What is Wheel Alignment?

Wheel alignment is all about the angle of the wheels in relation to the chassis. It keeps your car pointing in the right direction and driving straight. It also helps coordinate the tyres, lining them up accurately with the road surface, and spreads the weight of the car evenly. This gives you a smooth, balanced drive, prevents uneven wear to your tyre's and reduces fuel cost's.

Your wheel alignment can easily be knocked out of alignment by driving over speedbumps too fast, hitting a pothole or kerb or are involved in a minor accident. If you suspect that you have an issue with your wheel alignment, you are advised to have it corrected to prevent tyre ware or possibly an accident.

Why is it important?

Wheel alignment is important for many reasons. It makes your drive much more comfortable, as misaligned wheels often contribute to a bumpy, unpleasant driving experience. Correct wheel alignment also helps you save money, both on fuel and tyres. Poorly aligned wheels mean the engine has to work harder and use more fuel to keep you moving. Most importantly, it degrades your tyres much faster than normal. This leads to more regular replacements.

What are the warning signs of poor wheel alignment?
  • Your car will drift to one side on a straight road

  • Vibrations in the steering wheel

  • Wheel's are going straight and steering wheel is turned to one side

  • Squeaking noises from the tyres

  • Accelerated tyre degradation
